New Delhi. Veteran and famous actress KPAC Lalitha, who won the hearts of the audience with her stellar performances in Malayalam films, is no more in this world. He has passed away at the age of 74. KPAC Lalita was ailing for the past few days. He breathed his last late Tuesday evening at his home in Thripunithura, Kerala. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the South film industry due to his death.
KPAC Lalita worked in South Cinema for almost 5 decades. He showed his acting skills in more than 550 Malayalam and Tamil films. He made his acting debut in theatre. KPAC Lalitha made her acting debut in the Malayalam film industry in 1969 with the film Koottukudumbam, directed by KS Sethumadhavan. After that he worked in more than one film.
KPAC Lalita won the National Award twice for her performance in the film Aamram in the year 1999 and the film Shannat in 2000. He was awarded the Kerala State Film Award four times. KPAC Lalitha was also the President of Kerala Sangeet Natak Akademi for five years. He was born on 25 February 1948 in Kayamkulam. Since childhood, her name was Maheshwari Amma, but on the film screen, people knew her as KPAC Lalita.
She was part of Kerala’s famous drama troupe KPAC (Kerala People Art Club). When she started acting in films, her name became KPAC Lalita. She married Bharathan, a famous producer-director of Malayalam films. KPAC Lalita is survived by her son Siddhartha Bharathan and daughter Srikutty. Siddhartha Bharathan is also a well known filmmaker.
There is an atmosphere of mourning in South Cinema due to the death of KPAC Lalita. Many film stars are paying tribute to him through social media. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has also condoled the death of KPAC Lalitha. She wrote on her official Twitter account, ‘Lalita has become a part of the history of an era that has entered the hearts of different generations with her acting skills.’ Many film stars have also expressed their condolences for KPAC Lalita.
