Azamgarh: Asaduddin Owaisi has made a big bet in the stronghold of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in the UP Assembly elections. Asaduddin Owaisi has made him a candidate from Mubarakpur seat of Azamgarh in UP, who had once approached the Samajwadi Party for a ticket on this seat. Owaisi’s party AIMIM has made the contest even more interesting by fielding former BSP Legislature Party leader Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali as its candidate from Mubarakpur seat.
In fact, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has released its fourteenth list of candidates, in which the names of candidates have been announced for 10 seats. In this list of AIMIM, Hindu candidates have been given tickets on one seat and Muslim candidates on the other nine. In this list, Shah Alam’s name is from Mubarakpur seat of Azamgarh.
Asaduddin Owaisi’s party has fielded Shah Alam against SP candidate Akhilesh Yadav from Mubarakpur seat of Azamgarh.
Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali is MLA from Mubarakpur assembly seat for two consecutive terms. He left Mayawati’s BSP by resigning from all his posts last two months. Although he had first approached the Samajwadi Party, but Guddu Jamali went to the shelter of Asaduddin Owaisi after not talking to the National President of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav.
It is believed that the equation of Mubarakpur assembly seat will change with Shah Alam Guddu Jamali coming into the fray from Owaisi’s party, because in this seat the BSP has bet on Abdus Salam and Samajwadi Party has bet on Akhilesh Yadav. It is necessary to mention here that this Akhilesh Yadav is not the head of the SP, but another leader of the party itself.
