Lucknow. The Bharatiya Janata Party has ended the suspense of the candidate from Karhal in Mainpuri in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Minister in the Central Government, SP Singh Baghel has filed his nomination papers as BJP candidate from Karhal in Mainpuri Collectorate on Monday. Earlier, SP Singh Baghel was a cabinet minister in the Yogi Adityanath government of the state.
He contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by resigning from SP Singh Baghel, who was a cabinet minister in the Yogi Adityanath government and reached Parliament House as an MP from Agra. Professor SP Singh Baghel, who reached Mainpuri after participating in the first phase of budget debate in the Lok Sabha on Monday, filed his nomination papers against Akhilesh Yadav from Karhal as a BJP candidate. Earlier there were speculations that BJP would field Aparna Bisht Yadav.
To give competition to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav from Karhal assembly seat, BJP has appointed Union Law and Justice Minister Prof. SP Singh Baghel has been fielded. Baghel suddenly reached Mainpuri on Monday and filed his nomination papers. SP Singh Baghel, who was a sub-inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police, was posted under Mulayam Singh’s security when he became the Chief Minister in 1989. Member of Parliament from Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh, Prof. Baghel has also worn Khaki before Khadi. He was also a sub-inspector for a long time and was posted under the protection of former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Mulayam Singh Yadav fielded him from Jalesar Lok Sabha seat in the year 1998 and also got success. After that Prof. Baghel did not look back. In the year 1999-2004, he went to the Lok Sabha on a SP ticket. Mulayam made him a candidate from Jalesar (Etah) parliamentary seat in 1998, Baghel won. After this, in 1999 and 2004 also reached Parliament on SP ticket. After this, Baghel joined the BSP and contested the Lok Sabha elections against Akhilesh Yadav from Firozabad seat in 2009 on a BSP ticket. Second place in this election. He also contested in front of Dimple Yadav in the by-election on the same seat, but came third. In 2010, BSP made him a Rajya Sabha member.
Baghel joined BJP in 2014 and SP’s national chief general secretary Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav’s son contested against Akshay Yadav, second in this election. In 2017, he became an MLA from Tundla on a BJP ticket and became a minister in the Yogi government. Meanwhile, in 2019, he became an MP from Agra seat and in 2021, he has been made Minister of State for Law and Justice in the expansion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. Baghel is originally from Auraiya.
