Lucknow. Online (virtual) hearing of cases will be held in Allahabad High Court’s Principal Bench at Prayagraj and Lucknow Bench from Monday, January 3. In view of the increasing corona infection, the administrative committee of judges took this decision late on Sunday evening. From January 3, the physical hearing has been put on hold for the time being. Guidelines have also been issued in this regard.
The Advocate General’s Office, Allahabad High Court has requested all the public prosecutors to come to the Chief Standing Advocate’s office at 9:30 am so that they can be ready for online arguments from Monday. Senior judges of the Administrative Committee of the High Court have taken this decision after talks with the officials of the Bar Association in view of the increasing cases of corona in Lucknow and Prayagraj.
The Bar Association has been apprised of the decision taken in the meeting of the Administrative Committee chaired by Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal. The Bar Association has requested that due to the network or due to any reason the lawyers are not able to connect in the arguments of their cases, then no orders should be passed against them in those cases. It was also urged that the lawyers be allowed to go to their chambers and that the cases which could not be heard, those cases should be kept on the next day.
The committee has assured the lawyers to consider the request of the Bar Association to visit their chambers. Even before this, during the first and second wave of Corona, cases were heard in the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow Bench in virtual mode. After the reduction in infection, the High Court had given permission to hold a physical hearing.
Guidelines for virtual hearing: During the virtual hearing from January 3, advocates, scribes and litigants will not be allowed to enter the court premises. The cases already filed during the virtual hearing will also be presented in the court. Along with this, cases can be filed by coming to the individual office through online. For this, counters will be opened outside the court premises. Admission will be till 4 pm. Helpline numbers have been issued for any information related to litigation. It will be operational from 8 am to 6 pm. The helpline number of the principal bench of the Allahabad High Court is 14600 and the helpline number of the Lucknow bench is 14601.
552 new infected found: Let us tell you that the cases of corona infection are increasing continuously in Uttar Pradesh. In the last 24 hours, corona tests of 1.78 lakh people were done in which 552 new infected have been found. With this, the number of patients in the state has increased 14 times in the last week itself. On 27 December 2021, 40 patients were found. Such a large number of patients were getting in a day six months back in June. 37 patients became healthy as compared to newly found patients. Now the active cases have increased to 1725. The Health Department has appealed to the people that they must wear masks to protect against corona and strictly follow the rule of physical distance of two yards.
