In view of the assembly elections to be held in UP next year, every political party and leader is busy in fixing their equations. Meanwhile, the Congress has suffered a major setback in Prayagraj after Rae Bareli MLA Aditi Singh joined the BJP. Three-time MLA Rajendra Tripathi has left the party and joined the BJP.
Rajendra Tripathi joined the BJP in the presence of Laxmikant Bajpai, President of the BJP Joining Committee at the Lucknow BJP office. According to experts, his sudden departure from the party is a big setback for the Congress. Apart from becoming MLA thrice, Rajendra Tripathi has also been a minister of UP Congress. Experts say that earlier, when Aditi Singh, who was MLA from Rae Bareli Sadar assembly constituency, had left Congress and joined BJP, then it was also being considered as a big loss for the party. Now with the departure of Rajendra Tripathi, this loss has become even bigger. The organization of the Congress has weakened in this area. It is worth noting that before this, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who was a senior leader of the party in the 2017 elections, also joined the BJP. After him, Rajendra Tripathi was very important for the Congress in Prayagraj.
Along with Rajendra Tripathi, many leaders including former BSP MLA Krishna Pal Singh Rajput, former IAS Gurbachan Lal, Rashtriya Lok Dal State General Secretary Munidev Sharma have also taken membership of BJP. Munidev was considered very close to RLD President Ajit Singh.
