Baliya. What was suspected eventually turned out to be true. Former MLA and BJP Provincial Council member Ramikbal Singh on Monday said goodbye to the BJP and rode on a bicycle. He took the membership of SP in Lucknow in front of SP chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. His supporters are happy with his joining the SP. On his joining SP, his supporters including local SP workers have also congratulated him.
Ramikbal Singh started student politics from Banaras Hindu University and later joined BJP politics. Originally a resident of Mudera village of Rasda block, contested and won the election of the Legislative Assembly on a BJP ticket from Chilkahar Vidhan Sabha constituency in the year 2002. From the very beginning, Ramiqbal of Bagavati’s attitude is known for his belligerence. In 2007, he lost the election from Chilkahar constituency to SP candidate Sanatan Pandey. After that in the year 2009, contested the Lok Sabha elections from Ghosi and lost. After the new delimitation, he contested the elections from Rasra assembly constituency in 2012, but here also he had to face defeat at the hands of BSP candidate. After this, he was a contender for BJP ticket from Salempur Lok Sabha constituency in 2014 but did not get the ticket.
In the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections, he was seeking ticket from Sadar Vidhan Sabha constituency, but the party sent him again to contest from Rasra constituency. After the formation of the BJP government in the state, Ram Iqbal Singh started feeling isolated. He was very angry with the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. He had also questioned the way the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dealt with the second wave of Kovid. Eventually, angry with the policies of the party, he joined the SP in Lucknow in front of SP supremo and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
