Lucknow. Samajwadi Party’s Constitution Save-BJP Hatao campaign was held in Raniganj assembly constituency of Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday. There was fierce fighting in the public meeting. There was a ruckus between the former minister and the former MLA on the stage. Several people, including a ticket contender, were thrashed and arms were waved. Angered by the misbehavior, former MLA Shayd Ali along with his supporters gheraoed the Raniganj police station. In this case, the police has registered a case against three named and 50 unknown people including former minister Shivakant Ojha and his son.
SP had organized a public meeting in Mirzapur Chauhari’s Bagh of Raniganj assembly constituency under the Save the Constitution-Remove BJP campaign. Former minister RK Chaudhary was the chief guest of the public meeting. Along with him, former minister Prof. Shivakant Ojha, former MLA Shyad Ali, Shakeel Ahmed, Brijesh Yadav, Purnanshu Ojha and other leaders were present on the stage at around three in the afternoon. During this, supporters of the ticket claimants started raising slogans in their favor, due to which the atmosphere became tense.
During the address, Shayd Ali started saying that this platform belongs to SP, it is not right to glorify Shivakant Ojha only. On this matter, when Shivakant Ojha moved towards the mic, his supporters also climbed on the stage and things got worse and a scuffle started between the two. Seeing himself surrounded, Shayd Ali jumped down from the stage.
It is alleged that during this time Brijesh Yadav, who claimed the ticket, was beaten up fiercely. The workers also waved pistols from the stage. After this, many leaders including former MLAs Shayd Ali, Shakeel Ahmed, Brijesh Yadav left the public meeting and reached Lilaha Powerhouse first and sat on a dharna there. After a while CO Atul Tripathi reached there and picked him up. After getting up from here, the former MLA surrounded the police station demanding action against the attackers.
Brijesh Yadav gave a complaint to the police alleging that on the challenge of former minister Shivakant Ojha, his sons Purnanshu Ojha, Ashok Mishra and 40-50 people beat him up with kicks and bribes. Ashok Mishra pointed a pistol at him. Police registered a case. SO Anil Pandey said that a case of rioting, assault has been registered against 53 people including the former minister. Efforts were made to take the side of Shivakant Ojha in this regard but there was no response from his side.
Revolver of former MLA seized: The revolver of former MLA Shayd Ali was taken by his brother Shahzad. The revolver was waved during the fight. So the police confiscated him. SO Anil Pandey said that the revolver was waved, so it has been confiscated. A report of cancellation of the revolver’s license will be sent.
