Farrukhabad. In the district jail Fatehgarh, the prisoners became agitated on Sunday morning on the death of the prisoner and started a ruckus alleging negligence. When the captive guards tried to stop, they started vandalizing the prison by starting stone pelting.
The miscreants ransacked the jail hospital and set it on fire, which was extinguished by the fire brigade personnel in time. To control the miscreants, the police fired in the air, in which a prisoner was shot. At the same time, a soldier was also injured in stone pelting. The injured prisoner and constable have been sent to Lohia Hospital. Officers have reached the jail and are inquiring about the incident.
A prisoner suffering from tuberculosis, lodged in Fatehgarh District Jail, died during treatment at Saifai Hospital. On getting information about this, the prisoners started a ruckus in the barracks on Sunday morning, accusing the jail administration of negligence. At first the captives tried to pacify the prisoners, but as soon as the barracks opened, the prisoners started vandalizing and pelting stones. It has been told that Sandeep Singh (29), a prisoner from the district jail, was admitted to Lohia Hospital by the prisoner guard Shailendra Singh at 3:20 pm on November 05. The prisoner Sandeep Singh had difficulty in breathing.
Dr. Ankit Yadav had referred the prisoner to Saifai Medical College. It is being told that Sandeep Singh died during treatment in Saifai. As soon as the news of this reached the district jail on Sunday morning, the prisoners lodged there started creating ruckus. When the barricades were opened at 7.30 pm, the prisoners gathered.
During this, the jail hospital was vandalized and set on fire. When the captive guards tried to stop, they started pelting stones. Seeing the situation becoming uncontrollable, the higher officials were informed. District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh and Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena reached the district jail with the force of several police stations. When the police force entered the jail premises, the prisoners started pelting stones.
Police fired in the air to control the miscreants. For a long time, the sounds of firing kept coming from inside the jail. Around 10:15 am, constable Jitendra Kumar posted in Maudarwaza, the injured police station, and the captive Shivam, a resident of Lehrapur of Rajepur police station area, have been sent to Lohia Hospital. It has been told that Shivam has been injured due to police firing. Shivam says when he was closing the gate then shot him. Regarding the incident, District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh said that the situation in the jail premises is now under control. The matter is being investigated as to why the ruckus has happened.
Lathi charge and firing refused, 30 police personnel injured
In the case of ruckus in the district jail, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena has denied firing and lathi charge and said that thirty police personnel were injured in the attack by the prisoners. He told that the deputy jailer had informed at 9 o’clock that the prisoners were creating a ruckus and force should be sent immediately. When he arrived with the police force, the main gate was occupied by the prisoners.
The police used necessary force to bring the miscreants inside. Thirty police personnel have been injured in the riot, who will be medically examined. Prima facie it has come to the fore that tea was being distributed in the jail on Sunday morning when the prisoners attacked Deputy Jailor Shailesh Sonkar. After this the ruckus started from barricade number nine. There has been heavy damage at the jail hospital and other places. Prisoner Shivam himself is injured during the disturbance itself, he has not been shot.
