Lucknow. The government has started the process of transfers before the model code of conduct comes into force for the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. In this sequence, six IPS officers have been transferred late on Thursday. Upendra Kumar Agarwal, the head of the SIT probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case along with the IG of Basti, has also been transferred.
Late night transfers are continuing in the Uttar Pradesh government. The Home Department has transferred six IPS officers late on Thursday night. Modak Rojash D Rao, who was posted as Inspector General of Police, Law and Order in DGP Office, has been made IG of Basti Range. Along with this, Anil Kumar Rai, posted as IG in Basti, has been made Inspector General of Police, PAC Central Zone, Lucknow. Sanjeev Gupta, posted as IG Ayodhya, has been sent to Lucknow as Inspector General of Police, Law and Order.
Prayagraj IG KP Singh has been made the new IG of Ayodhya. Gonda IG Rakesh Singh has been made the new IG of Prayagraj. Along with this, Upendra Kumar Agrawal, posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police posted at DGP Headquarters, has been made the new DIG of Gonda. Upendra Kumar Agarwal is currently the head of the six-member SIT probing the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
