The Congress has made a big announcement to help the dependents of the sweeper Arun Valmiki, who died in police custody on suspicion of theft from the Malkhana of the police station in Tajnagri Agra. Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also assured legal help to the family along with announcing Rs 30 lakh to Arun’s dependents. A sweeper, who was caught in the case of theft of Rs 25 lakh from the Malkhana of Jagdishpura police station in Agra, died in police custody on Tuesday night. On Saturday night, Rs 25 lakh was stolen by breaking the doors in the Malkhana of Jagdishpura police station. In this case, the police had picked up private sweeper Arun Valmiki for questioning, he died on Tuesday in the police station premises.
Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra became very active on Wednesday as soon as the matter of Arun Valmiki’s death in police custody caught fire. After going from Lucknow to Agra, Priyanka Gandhi met the family members of the deceased. After this, Priyanka announced financial assistance of Rs 30 lakh to the family of the deceased sweeper Arun Valmiki. Along with this, he has announced to give full legal help to the family in fighting this case.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reached Agra at around 11 pm on Wednesday night. Arriving here, he met the family members of Arun Valmiki, who was allegedly killed in police custody. During this, Priyanka met Arun’s wife and mother and consoled them.
The Yogi Adityanath government of the state has also taken strict action in this matter. On the instructions of the government, SSP Agra has suspended Inspector Anand Shahi, SI Yogendra, Sepoy Satyam, Sepoy Rupesh and Sepoy Mahendra of Jagdishpura police station.
