Lakhimpur. The CJM on Saturday rejected the bail applications of Lucknow resident Ankit Das, his driver Shekhar Bharti and private security personnel Kale alias Latif, accused of Lakhimpur Kheri incident. On October 3, Ankit Das, along with the driver and personal security personnel and friend, had gone to see the riot in Banveerpur of Tikunia, the native village of the Union Minister of State for Home. At the same time, eight people, including four farmers, a journalist, were killed in the violence on the Banveerpur road. In the incident, a case was registered against 20 unidentified people, including Ashish Mishra, son of the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, on the complaint of Jagjit Singh, resident of Nanpara of district Bahraich, on charges of rioting, accident and murder.
The driver Shekhar Bharti, accused in the incident, was arrested on October 12 at 7.15 am from Palia bus stand and sent to jail. On October 13, Ankit Das and his gunner Latif alias Kale had reached the crime branch office at 10 am. After three hours of long interrogation, the SIT arrested him and sent him to jail. Since then all the three accused are in jail. On Saturday, the counsel for Ankit Das, Latif alias Kale and Shekhar Bharti filed a bail application in the CJM Court. After the hearing, the CJM rejected the bail applications of the three accused.
Let us inform that on Friday afternoon, SIT and Lakhimpur Crime Branch reached MI Apartment located in Hussainganj Clay Square of Lucknow regarding Ankit Das, nephew of former Union Minister Akhilesh Das and his security guard Latif alias Kale, accused in the Kheri case. Here the ST stayed for half an hour in Ankit’s flat on the ground floor. The SIT has recovered Ankit’s repeater gun and revolver from the flat. After the recovery of revolver and repeater gun, SIT and Crime Branch had also gone to Hotel Sagar Sona near Gomtinagar Fun Mall with Ankit and Latif. From here the SIT also took possession of the DVR and footage installed in the hotel. It is being told that during the Lakhimpur incident, Ankit and Latif were in a black fortuner.
Ankit had told the SIT that the mob was pelting stones at him. During stone pelting, his Fortuner car overturned after going some distance ahead. When the crowd ran towards him, he got out of the car and ran. Seeing the furious form of the crowd, they opened fire. The same weapons were kept hidden by Ankit in the flat after the incident. After coming to Lucknow, Ankit stayed at Hotel Sagar Sona.
