The SIT, which is probing the death of eight people, including four farmers, in the October 3 violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, has tightened the noose on the chief accused minister son Ashish Mishra Monu as well as his associates. After the scene recreations in Tikunia on Thursday, the team has achieved great success on Friday. The SIT and Lakhimpur Crime Branch reached the MI apartment at Hussainganj Clay Square at around quarter past four on Friday afternoon with Ankit Das, nephew of former Union Minister Akhilesh Das, accused in the Kheri case, and his security guard Latif alias Kale. Here the ST stayed for half an hour in Ankit’s flat on the ground floor. The SIT recovered Ankit’s repeater gun and revolver from the flat.
After the recovery of revolver and repeater, SIT and Crime Branch reached Hotel Sagar Sona near Gomtinagar Fun Mall with Ankit and Latif. From here the SIT also took possession of the DVR and footage installed in the hotel. It is being told that Ankit and Latif were in a black Fortuner car during the Lakhimpur incident. After the arrest, Ankit had told in the interrogation of the SIT that the mob was pelting stones at him. During stone pelting, his Fortuner car overturned after going some distance ahead. When the crowd ran towards them, Ankit and Latif got out of the car and ran away. Seeing the furious form of the crowd, he opened fire with a gun. The same weapons were kept hidden by Ankit in the flat after the incident. After coming to Lucknow, Ankit stayed at Hotel Sagar Sona.
License was burnt in the car itself: According to the information, during interrogation, Ankit had told the SIT that his car was burnt by the mob when he fled after the incident. The licenses of the weapons were kept in the car itself, they have been burnt. Now the SIT is also investigating about the license and other documents of the arms.
SIT was searching four locations for four hours, gathered evidence: The team left for Lucknow from Lakhimpur Kheri at around 12 noon, taking both the accused on police remand. Reached the flat located at Clay Square at quarter past four. Talked to Ankit and Latif on many points in the flat. After that both were taken to the hotel. The team consisted of SIT officers, two inspectors and other police personnel.
Ankit had fled to Nepal after the incident: In the interrogation of the SIT, Ankit told that after the incident, he fled to his house in Lucknow Babu Banarasi Das Nagar. From here he went to the flat and hid the weapons and then stayed in the hotel one night. He had run straight to Nepal from the hotel. When he saw the news of Ashish’s arrest on the news channel, he started contacting for surrender. Meanwhile, the SIT also pasted the notice at his house. He surrendered after coming to know about the notice of the SIT. The SIT has so far arrested six people, including Ashish Mishra, in the Kheri case on October 3. Police teams are raiding to find other accused in the case.
