New Delhi. The fourth match of the five-match Test series being played between India and England, during this series, Indian vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was seen struggling to score runs. He has reached the fifty mark only once in eight innings of four Tests on this tour. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has advised Rahane to recover from this poor form.
The tour of England has always been considered difficult for the batsmen. So far, Indian batsmen have been seen struggling badly on this tour. Questions are being raised continuously on the team’s vice-captain Rahane. After being dismissed for zero in the second innings of the Oval Test, people have started questioning his career as well. Rahane has so far been a flop in this series, except for 61 runs in the second innings of the Lord’s Test. He has scored 5, 1, 61, 18, 10, 14 and 0 runs.
Sehwag suggested Sachin’s solution
The former Indian opener while talking about Rahane at lunch during the match said that it happens to every batsman. The same thing happened to me and then Sachin Tendulkar gave me a suggestion. I would also advise Rahane to do the same. Sachin told me that you just try to spend more and more time on the field. Imagine that your parents want to see you play on the field. Just stand on the field for as long as you can for them. Look, your runs may not be made, but stay on the ground for your parents, they want to see you there.
Team needs to instill confidence
Sehwag said, there is no shortage in technique as well, he is a very experienced player. The team management should talk with them and assure that you do not pay attention to anything, just think of giving your best.
