Even on Sunday, the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas was delayed by about an hour.
Tejas Express is the first train in the country, for which passengers get compensation for being late. Automatic signal bad in delhi
According to IRCTC, Tejas Express from Lucknow to New Delhi left Lucknow Junction on Saturday at 6.10 am on the scheduled time. Due to water filling in the yard of New Delhi railway station due to rain, the automatic signal got damaged and trains were stopped. Due to this Tejas Express reached New Delhi station at 12.25 hrs late by two and a half hours. Tejas coming to Lucknow was delayed by about two and a half hours from the scheduled time of 3.40.
For the first time in two years such huge damages
Equipped with flight-like facilities, Tejas Express first ran between Lucknow and Delhi on 4 August 2019. So far it has been complained about five times for delays of less than an hour. IRCTC claims that the train has been 99.9 percent right time. This is the first case in almost two years that IRCTC will have to pay such a huge amount if the train is late. Tejas was once two hours late due to fog in the last winter. Then more than one and a half thousand passengers had to pay damages. The train, which was stopped during the second wave of Corona, has resumed on 7 August.
IRCTC Chief Regional Manager Ajit Sinha told that after the end of the journey, the claim message will come on the registered mobile, email. On filling it, Rs 100 can be claimed for delay of one hour and Rs 250 for delay of two hours or more.
