Agra. A major accident took place during the birthday party on Monday night in RP Nagar located in Dhandhupura village of Tajganj in Agra. The building collapsed during the celebration. Two youths died in the horrific accident. Amidst darkness and chaos, 15 injured were taken to the hospital for treatment. The force of several police stations including DM-SSP reached the spot. Rescue and relief work was going on at the spot till late in the night.
According to the police, the heart-wrenching incident took place at around 9.30 pm during a birthday party held on the second floor of the house. Aniket, a resident of Dhandupura, had called 40-50 friends on his birthday. Everyone was dancing on film songs in the party on the roof of the house. Suddenly there was a loud bang. The youths involved in the party fell on the ground floor. All the things like ball etc. started falling on him. People living nearby came out of their homes due to loud noises. Hearing the sounds of screaming from the middle of the rubble, they ran towards it.
In the meantime, the police was informed. The youths who had minor injuries came out on their own. Within no time the police also reached the spot. The police administration was blown away by the information that about a dozen youths were buried under the debris. DM and SSP also reached the spot. The fire brigade and ambulance were also called. The rescue team pulled out the injured one by one. About a dozen injured were sent to four major hospitals of the city for treatment. By then, two seriously injured youths had died. One was identified as Arun, a resident of village Nagla Teen. While the other youth was told as Manjit Singh of Dhandupura. After midnight, the administration has confirmed two deaths and 15 injured in the accident.
On-going house repair
It is said that three months ago, Tajganj resident Gajendra Harivarma had bought this house in RP Nagar. Earlier there used to be a shoe factory. He is doing repair work in the house. The roof of the first floor is of gardar stone. There were bats under the roof at many places. It was here that the youths of Dhandupura had organized a party. Police said that some youths had gone home by the time the accident happened. Otherwise the accident could have been bigger.
SSP Agra Muniraj ji told that two youths have died in the Tajganj Dhandupura accident. 15 people are injured, of which one is in critical condition. All have been admitted to different hospitals for treatment. Debris has been removed from the spot. There is no chance of anyone getting buried there now.
