Pratapgarh. Threatening to blow up BJP MP Sangam Lal Gupta with a bomb on the phone, the miscreants have demanded an extortion of Rs 5 crore. On Monday, the MP lodged a complaint with the North Avenue police station in Delhi. Due to the high profile of the case, the investigation of the case is being done by the Anti Terrorist Cell. The investigation team, which reached the MP’s residence in Delhi, inquired about the developments from him.
MP Sangam Lal Gupta was going to Prayagraj on Sunday night at around 8:30 pm to catch a train for Delhi in his four wheeler. He was threatened and abused by unidentified vehicle occupants while passing near the Indian Oil Petrol Pump near Malaka. When he stopped his car, the accused in the vehicle fled from there. Regarding the incident, the MP had apprised IG Prayagraj KP Singh over the phone. The MP reached Delhi on Monday morning after catching the Prayagraj Express train from the junction at around 9:30 pm.
He told that after reaching the residence, at around 9.30 pm, an unknown person called on his mobile and threatened him and demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore. Told to deliver it to his given address. Threatened to blow it up with a bomb if he did not give. According to MP Sangam Lal Gupta, a phone call was received on his mobile in the evening as well. Taking the name of Saharuwa on Pratapgarh-Amethi road, he talked about bringing Rs 5 crore there. While abusing, the caller threatened that the MP and his companion would be blown up with a bomb if the money was not delivered to the address mentioned. After that the MP informed the incident at North Avenue police station in Delhi. The Anti-Terrorist Cell is investigating the matter.
In this case, the policemen reached the residence in the evening and informed the MP about the developments. Let us inform that even before this, the matter of demanding extortion from MP Sangam Lal Gupta through international post has come to the fore. With the registration of FIR in the case, arrest has also been made. MP Sangam Lal Gupta told that he has received two threatening calls. He has given a complaint in the police station.
