New Delhi. James Anderson was named on the second day of the first Test of the five-match series between India and England. Anderson bowled brilliantly, dismissing Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli in two consecutive balls to get England back in the match. Virat got out on a golden duck and with this wicket, Anderson achieved a special achievement in Test cricket. In the case of taking the most wickets in Test cricket, Anderson has now equaled former India spinner Anil Kumble. This wicket of Virat was Anderson’s 619th victim in Test cricket. In this way, he has joined the top-3 players in terms of taking most wickets in Test cricket.
Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has the most wickets in Test cricket. Muralitharan has taken a total of 800 wickets, followed by Shane Warne, former Australia spinner, who has a total of 708 wickets in his account. Kumble and Anderson have 619 wickets in their account. Anderson can overtake Kumble in this match itself. Anderson, the highest wicket-taker in Tests, has become the first fast bowler to be included in the top-3 in this way.
Talking about the match, India have scored 125 runs for four wickets till the end of the day’s play. KL Rahul is playing on 57 and Rishabh Pant is scoring seven runs. Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 36, while Cheteshwar Pujara returned to the pavilion after scoring four runs. Virat Kohli got out on the very first ball without opening the account. Rohit’s wicket went to Ollie Robinson’s account, while Pujara and Virat were dismissed by Anderson. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was run out after scoring five runs. England scored 183 runs in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets while Mohammed Shami took three wickets for India. Two wickets came in Shardul Thakur’s account and one wicket was taken by Mohammad Siraj.
