New Delhi. Indian Test team opener Shubman Gill has returned to India from England, putting an end to speculations about his availability for the Test series against England starting next month. Shubman Gill has reached his Chandigarh home, from where he has posted a post. Gill has a serious injury and it will take him a long time to recover from this injury. Because of this, he has been out of the team for a long time.
Opener Shubman Gill, 21, posted two pictures on his Instagram account upon arrival. One picture showed the airport ramp and two broken heart emoticons, while the other picture was of a cake with the message of his family, “Welcome home, Shubi”. A Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official confirmed that batsman Shubman Gill has returned home from England.
Gill, who played in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and scored 28 and eight runs in two innings, suffered a leg injury, which has now ruled him out of the five-match Test series against England. Although BCCI sources have confirmed his injury and return, no official information has been given by the board about his injury so far.
The news of his injury first surfaced on June 30. Although board officials at that time said that he would not be available for the first Test, his return home made it clear that he would not take part in the entire Test series. India have reserve openers in Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul, who can face the new ball along with Rohit Sharma. He also has Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran among the standby players, but he is currently in isolation.
