Rishikesh. Outside of AIIMS Rishikesh, audio of ambulances being charged at arbitrary rent from patients and timbers is becoming increasingly viral on the internet media these days. The Kotwali police has taken the matter seriously. Police have warned the ambulance owners and drivers to take action on charging arbitrary fare.
Audio of conversation with ambulance driver outside AIIMS is going viral on internet media. In which three thousand rupees are being asked to carry the dead body from AIIMS to the crematorium. While the distance from AIIMS to Shamsan Ghat is about eight km. About 1000 rent is fixed for this.
In another case, the fare of transporting a Kovid patient from Narendranagar to Rishikesh was given eight thousand rupees. This incident happened to the policeman. When the policeman spoke directly with the ambulance owner instead of the union office, it became a matter of two and a half thousand.
Inspector Ritesh Shah, who is in charge of Kotwali, said that taking cognizance of all these information, the police team was sent to the ambulance parking near AIIMS. Ambulance owners and drivers have been given strict instructions to collect reasonable rent from the patients and the pilgrims. If the complaint of collecting arbitrary rent by taking advantage of the compulsion comes to the notice, then a lawsuit will be filed in the relevant sections.
