Lucknow. In the third phase of voting to elect a village government in Uttar Pradesh, voters of 20 districts are voting on Monday to elect their representative. The security system has been strengthened due to the sensitive turnout in many places. Meanwhile, there has been a lot of ruckus in Meerut on Sunday night. In the first phase elections held on April 15, 71 percent voting was recorded while in the second phase elections held on April 19, 73 percent turnout was recorded.
Today, 30571613 voters are exercising their right at 49789 polling booths in twenty districts of the state from seven o’clock. These people will become the fate of the candidates who have entered the field for the posts of 748 Zilla Panchayat members, 18530 Kshetra Panchayat members, 14379 Gram Pradhan and 180473 Gram Panchayat members. Polling has started at 7 am, which will run till 6 in the evening. Corona-infected are also being given the opportunity to vote in the 11-hour polling. State Election Commission commissioner Manoj Kumar has directed all election officials including the district election officers of all the concerned districts to put in place a better system so that no polling station is allowed to be repatriated.
People have gathered in polling stations since morning to avoid the scorching heat and congestion. Polling is going on today in Amethi, Unnao, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Chandauli, Jalaun, Deoria, Pilibhit, Fatehpur, Firozabad, Balrampur, Ballia, Barabanki, Meerut, Moradabad, Mirzapur, Shamli, Siddharthnagar and Hamirpur districts.
Polling in 2437 polling places in Moradabad: Brassnagar is also home district of Moradabad and Panchayati Raj Minister Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh. Voting has started in tight security at 2437 polling places here today. A total of 1468329 voters here will exercise franchise to elect the village government. A total of 19704 candidates are in the fray for 8311 posts.
In 643 gram panchayats of eight blocks of Moradabad, a total of 1468329 voters will vote for the district panchayat member, the village head, the area panchayat member and the gram panchayat member. 1742 Gram Panchayat members and 12 BDCs have been opposed. Now 19704 candidates are in the fray for all the posts. The voters will decide their fate. 598 polling stations in the district have been kept in the general category. 118 polling stations are categorized as sensitive and 82 susceptible. Additional security arrangements have been made at sensitive and susceptible polling stations. There will be videography of these centers. This time during the voter revision program, the names of 95958 thousand young voters in the district have been recorded in the voter lists. These voters will continue to play the role of the main judge in the panchayat elections. The commission has directed to conduct the elections following the guidelines of Corona. On May 2, the fate of the candidates will be decided on the day of Matangana.
Tight security cordon at polling booths: Police are tightly guarded during the third phase of polling. From the candidates to their special supporters, direct monitoring is being done. During this, strict instructions have also been given to all policemen to strictly follow the Corona Guideline. Police are on high alert in Firozabad, Kasganj, Fatehpur, Hamirpur, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Deoria, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Kanpur Dehat, Auraiya, Jalaun, Unnao, Barabanki, Amethi, Meerut, Shamli, Chandauli, Ballia and Mirzapur. Tight security arrangements are in place at 49798 polling places in 20727 polling booths in these districts.
State ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that for the third phase of voting, 509 inspectors, 7600 sub-inspectors, 15736 chief constables, 56251 constables, 66444 home guards, 2473 PRD jawans and 6282 recruitment constables are mustered. Apart from this, 55 companies and two platoon PAC and ten company CAPF personnel are also in sensitive areas. Police action is being taken in the state from March 7 under a special campaign, so that the panchayat elections can be conducted in a peaceful manner. So far, 171 illegal arms factories have been arrested in the state along with 2613 illegalities. Meanwhile, more than 20 thousand accused involved in the illegal liquor business have been arrested. The 5140 accused in the incidents during the last election are also being monitored. So far, over 7.28 lakh licensed weapons have been deposited in the province due to the fear of misuse of licensed weapons in the panchayat elections.
