If you are the beneficiary of the government subsidy scheme, then you have to link your Aadhaar to it to take direct benefit of the government subsidy in your State Bank of India (SBI) savings account. SBI has informed customers through Twitter to link their bank accounts to Aadhaar for direct benefit transfer (DBT). The bank said in a tweet, ‘We want to tell our customers that linking of Aadhaar card is mandatory for those wishing to receive any benefit or subsidy through DBT from the government. SBI Internet Banking
Log on to www.onlinesbi.com.
Navigate to “Link your Aadhaar number” under “My Account”.
On the next page choose the account number, input the Aadhaar number and click Submit.
The last 2 digits of the registered mobile number will be displayed to you.
The status of the mapping will be given to you on your registered mobile number.
SBI ATM:
Go to any SBI ATM.
Swipe your ATM Debit Card and enter your PIN.
Select the menu ‘Service – Registration’.
Select Aadhaar registration (or inquiry as per your requirement) in this menu.
Now you can select the account type (saving / checking) after.
Which you will be asked to enter your Aadhaar number.
You will be prompted to enter the same again.
SMS will be received on your registered mobile number regarding linking.
SBI Anywhere App:
Login to SBI Anywhere App
Click on ‘request’
Click on ‘Aadhaar’
Click on ‘Aadhaar Linking’
Choose your CIF from the drop-down list
Enter your Aadhaar number
Select T&C and submit
You will get an SMS on your registered mobile number about the status of the linking.
How to check whether your bank account is linked with Aadhaar:
Go to www.uidai.gov.in
Go to Aadhaar Services section
Click ‘Check Aadhaar / Bank Account Linking Status’ in ‘My Aadhaar’
Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number or 16 digit Virtual ID
Enter Security Code and click ‘Send OTP’
Now you will get an OTP on your Aadhaar linked mobile number
Enter OTP and click ‘Login’
However, as per the Supreme Court ruling, it is not mandatory to link your bank account with your Aadhaar number. However, to avail government subsidy, it is mandatory to provide your Aadhaar number in your bank account.
