Hyderabad A class 10th student of a private school in Hyderabad committed suicide due to not being able to pay the arrears of school fees by the working parents. The school staff was allegedly pressurizing 15-year-old Yashaswini to pay Rs 3,000.
The parents said that she was depressed because she was unable to continue her studies. He had stopped going to school.
Her parents told the police that when they returned home from work on Thursday evening, they found the house in Kakatiyanagar in Nedredmet closed from inside. As no response was found after repeated knocking, they broke the door latch and found the daughter hanging from the rope.
On the complaint of the deceased girl’s family, the Neredmet Police Station under Rachkonda Police Commissionerate registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and started investigation. Police said no suicide note has been found.
Inspector A.R. Narasimha Swamy said, “Parents could not pay the fees due to financial problems. She was obviously depressed and took such a big step.” The police officer, however, said that the girl’s parents have not complained of harassment by the school.
The girl’s parents said that they had paid Rs 15,000 as fees, despite earning less during the lockdown and promised to pay the dues later. He alleged that his daughter stopped going to school due to the humiliation she faced.
