New Delhi. Indian team spinner R Ashwin made a comeback to India by taking 6 wickets in the second innings of the Chennai Test match against England. During the second innings, this Indian spinner did a special job. On the first ball of the first over, he repeated the work done 100 years ago by dismissing England opener Rory Burns. R Ashwin has become India’s first spinner to do so.
In the first match of the four-match series being played between India and England, Ashwin made another great performance with 9 wickets. In the second innings for India, he took 6 wickets for 61 runs. Thanks to Ashwin’s superb bowling, India dismissed England’s second innings for 178 runs. India have a target of 420 runs to win in Chennai Test.
This happened after 100 years
Ashwin became the first spinner to take a wicket on the first ball of a Test innings in 114 years. He dismissed Barnes. Earlier in the Oval Test in 1907, South African spinner Burt Bögler dismissed England batsman Tom Heyward on the very first ball of the innings. First in 1888, England spinner Bobby Peel dismissed Australia’s Alec Bannerman for the first ball of the innings.
India need 381 runs on the fifth day
The Indian team will have a target of 381 runs on the last day of the match to win the Chennai Test match. India had scored 39 runs at the loss of 1 wicket by the end of the fourth day’s play. Cheteshwar Pujara was on 12 while Shubman Gill was on 15. Rohit Sharma was bowled by Jack Leach in the second innings after scoring 12 runs.
