New Delhi. Afghanistan’s leading spinner Rashid Khan won the team on the basis of his all-round performance against Ireland in the final ODI. He then said on Tuesday that he wanted to establish himself as a propper all-rounder. Rashid has shown great improvement in his batting in the three-match ODI series against Ireland. He has scored runs and played big shots when needed.
Gurbaz had drawn the limelight in his debut match against Ireland with his brilliant century, but it was Rashid Khan’s half-century that put 266 runs on the scoreboard for Afghanistan after a middle-order flop. Rashid played a strong knock of 48 runs in 40 balls and then as bowler, he took 4 wickets for 29 runs and kept Afghanistan in the match. In the end, the team also won.
Famous Rashid Khan, known as Karamati Khan, spoke to Cricbuzz saying, “Absolutely (I see myself as an all-rounder). I said earlier that I started my career as a batsman, but later I worked on my bowling more, but now I am working on my batting and I have got areas to improve and I want to be a pro all-rounder in the future. ”
He went on to say, “When the team needs me, I have to get the team there. In the end when we need 40 or 50 runs, you have to stand for the team. Yes, I am a pro all-rounder myself I’m assuming. Whenever I get a chance, it doesn’t matter whether I come in at number eight or ninth, I just need the mindset that has given me the skills and talent and I need to see it just go and go. Play nice. “
