Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in the country, turned 70 on Sunday. Uttar Pradesh Foundation Day is being celebrated on 24 January. Many leaders including the country’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have given best wishes on this occasion. This is the third time to celebrate the state’s foundation day. Three years ago in 2018, Uttar Pradesh Foundation Day was celebrated for the first time on the initiative of Governor Ram Naik. This tradition has started since then.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted and congratulated Uttar Pradesh Foundation Day. He said, ‘Maryada Purushottam Prabhu Shri Ram and Liladhar Shri Krishna’s holy birthplace state, the heartland of India, the cradle of Indian culture. Hearty congratulations to all the residents on the foundation day of Uttar Pradesh. Come, let us all be determined to realize the concept of ‘Self-reliant Uttar Pradesh’.
In his congratulatory message, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, ‘Heartiest greetings to all my brothers and sisters of Uttar Pradesh on the’ Foundation Day ‘. There are immense possibilities of development in the state, which is being worked on extensively under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. May Uttar Pradesh prosper and develop, this is my wish to God.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that “On the chariot of progress, on the path of change”, on the occasion of Uttar Pradesh Foundation Day, hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the people of the state. Let us step up for the all round development and progress of the state and make Uttar Pradesh self-sufficient.
This is the history of Uttar Pradesh: During the British rule till 1834, the present part of Uttar Pradesh was under Bengal Presidency. The United Provinces (UP) got its name on April 1, 1937 after several changes. After the independence of the country in 1947, Uttar Pradesh was christened on 24 January 1950. However, then a partition took place and fifty years later in 2000 Uttaranchal became a separate state, which got the name Uttarakhand. In terms of area, UP is now fourth in the states of the country.
