Dehradun. As the Corona epidemic spread across the country, the lockdown forced large populations to live in homes. Financially affluent people were somehow able to maintain the family, but for the employed and the working class this time was not less than double calamity. At this time religious organizations of Doon came forward to help. Radha Swami Satsang Vyas, Sri Sri Balaji Seva Samiti and Kalika Mandir Samiti servants ran their own kitchens and distributed ration, food packets, water, juice, biscuits, milk etc. to the needy at various places.
Three thousand packets distributed every day for six months
The servicemen of Radha Swami Satsang Vyas located in Haridwar bypass engaged in selfless service, built a grand kitchen to help the needy. A total of 60 sevadars, including 40 women, prepared food for three thousand needy daily. Every day 3600 puris and 7200 rotis are prepared for the needy. 1200 such packets were prepared, which consisted of three roti and sabzi, while the remaining 1800 packets kept four puris and sabzi. Servicemen say that in such a situation, an appeal was also made for everyone to come forward for help.
Sri Sri Balaji Seva Samiti provided help from food van
The sevadars of Sri Sri Balaji Seva Samiti took a different initiative to help the needy during the coronary period. Apart from setting up food stalls at various places, hot food was also delivered from house to house through food vans. The committee has helped 600 needy people every day.
The founder chairman of the committee, Akhilesh Aggarwal, said that this campaign was conducted in the spirit of human service. Toll free numbers were also made available to the needy so that no one would go hungry.
Morning tea to dinner
The servicemen of Kalika Mata Mandir Samiti situated on Ansari Marg also served the needy with selfless motions during the Coronas. Through the mother Kalika Dayal Annapurna Rasoi from six in the morning to 10 in the night, the servicemen served 400 needy people every day. From morning tea to fruit and dinner food, distributed among the needy. Committee Minister Ashok Lamba said that the campaign started from 24 March 2020 till August. Apart from this, the committee also helped the unmatched people. Feed cow husk, dogs biscuits etc. Straw and water were kept in 15 to 18 pots outside the temple.
