Lucknow. After forming the government in Bihar, Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal United (JDU) is now going to expand in Uttar Pradesh too. JDU is also preparing to beat in the 2022 assembly elections due next year in UP. It will debut in a ceremony in Lucknow on 23-24th of January on the birth anniversary of Jannayak Kapoori Thakur.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has given its full responsibility to the party’s National General Secretary KC Tyagi. Tyagi has been a four-time MP from UP and Bihar. He has former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, V.P. Singh has had experience working in UP with several senior leaders including Mulayam Singh Yadav. The organization also has potential. Actually, the party in UP is assessing its equation in every way.
Tyagi told in the conversation that the Janata Dal United (JDU) will contest the UP assembly elections in 2022. If the BJP makes an alliance then it is fine. Otherwise, we will be alone. Apart from this, we are not thinking of any coordination with any other party.
He told that our MPs have been MLAs in UP before. I myself contested in 2004. When George Fernandes was the NDA Convener, we also had many ministers. Later, our alliance with the NDA broke. Our party became weak due to wear and tear. The alliance could not be held. However, in 2017 the party warmed up. Nitish Kumar also held dozens of meetings. But later the party has decided not to contest elections.
He said that a large part of UP which is adjacent to Bihar. There is great potential for expansion of our party there. The State Executive has a meeting on 23 and 24. District president will also participate in it. This day is the birthday of Kapurthi Thakur. He has been a major leader of the social justice movement. In Bihar, there was an experiment ‘Kota within Kota’, among the backward castes who are very backward castes do not get the benefit of reservation. So they should be given quota within the quota. It is demanded. Nitish Kumar has also implemented it in Bihar. Apart from this, the farmers have questions. The heritage of the old socialist movement is also in UP. Keeping these things in mind, the party is preparing its strategy.
Senior political analyst Rajiv Srivastava says that JDU wants its penetration in the UP district adjoining Bihar. The party wants to expand its reach among Bhojpuri-speaking people. The party has been trying this for the last decade. But it has not got much success yet. However, there is no JDU organization here. That is why there is no point in extracting any political implications of this.
