Jaipur. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has taken an important decision to increase the prize money given to the sportspersons of the state, who have been winning medals in international sports like Olympics, Asian and Commonwealth, by three to four times.
Gehlot increased the amount of Rs 75 lakh given for winning a gold medal in the Olympic Games to Rs 3 crore, the amount given for winning a silver medal increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2 crore and the amount given for winning a bronze medal was 30 It has been approved to increase from lakh rupees to one crore rupees.
Similarly, the amount given to the players of the state for winning the gold medal in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games from 30 lakh to 1 crore, the prize money will be increased from 20 lakh to 60 lakh on winning the silver medal and for the bronze medal It has been decided to increase the amount from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports has also issued orders in this regard.
With this decision of Gehlot, sports activities will be encouraged in the state and sports talents of the state will be motivated to perform at the international level.
It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister has taken several decisions continuously to encourage sports and sportspersons in the state. Earlier, Gehlot approved the appointment of sports medal winning sportspersons to various posts including DSP on an out-of-turn basis. The Chief Minister had also decided to allot 25 to 25 bighas of land in Indira Gandhi Canal Project area to 13 players native of Rajasthan who have brought laurels to the state by performing excellent sports in Olympic, Asian and Commonwealth Games. Besides, he also approved to double the daily allowance given to sportspersons of the state.
