New Delhi . West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday spoke to various farmer organizations protesting against the agrarian reform laws of the Center on the Singhu border in Delhi and assured them that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) stands with them. Party leader Derek O’Brien gave this information. Brian, who lived for about four hours with the agitating farmers, had this conversation over the phone. “The chief minister talked to the farmers, made four telephone calls to different groups from Haryana and Punjab,” Bryan said. The farmers shared their demands and they wanted the Agriculture Bill (law) to be repealed. ”
“He also thanked the Chief Minister for showing solidarity with him,” he said. He expressed gratitude for his support for farmers and land movements earlier too. “The Rajya Sabha MP told the farmers that he (Banerjee) and the Trinamool Congress were demanding the repeal of” anti-farmer “laws. I will stand with them. Brian said it was a very emotional meeting. Farmers’ organizations knew about the laws and they wanted these laws to be repealed.
He said that indeed, on this day, 14 years ago, Banerjee started her hunger strike for farmers in Singur. Farmers arrived last week to protest at the Delhi border and their leaders have held two rounds of talks with the government to end the deadlock. The next round of talks is proposed on Saturday.
