Lucknow. The counting of the 11 seats of the Legislative Council has started on Thursday morning with special security arrangements. In the Legislative Council, voting was held on December 1 for Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut and Allahabad-Jhansi block graduates, besides Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, Meerut, Bareilly-Moradabad and Gorakhpur-Faizabad block teachers seats. In Lucknow, Agra, Varanasi and Meerut, counting of two seats of teacher and graduate quota will be done. The counting of votes is being held simultaneously at seven places. In view of Corona infection, instructions have been given to maintain special vigilance at the counting site and follow the Kovid-19 guidelines. At the same time, the counting of Allahabad-Jhansi block graduate seat will be done in Jhansi, Bareilly-Moradabad block teacher seat in Bareilly and the counting of Gorakhpur-Faizabad block teacher seat in Gorakhpur.
MLC candidate Kanti Singh, sitting in the media center of the counting venue, said that I have nothing to say at this time. During the voting, the workers were stopped, who were complained to the election officials. At the same time, former MLC SP Singh has accused the administration of fake voting in rural areas. He said, about 40 thousand votes were cut in the capital. Still Kanti Singh will win, even if the margin of victory is low.
Scrutiny has been completed before counting of votes at Ramabai venue of Lucknow. In view of the counting of votes, the security of the venue has been given to BSF. CCTV cameras have been provided to monitor the campus. All political parties and counterparties can also monitor the strong room and campus. According to the District Election Officer, 14 tables have been arranged for ballot counting and 14 tables for teacher election.
The counting of graduate and teacher elections is being done in room number four and three respectively. All the arrangements are being closely monitored by the District Election Officers. Officials say that counting of more than three and a half lakh votes will be done, it is expected that the results will come from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm for the graduation seat where about two dozen candidates are in the field. There are 11 candidates claiming victory on the teacher seat.
Adequate arrangements have been made for thermal scanner, hand sanitizer, gloves, face mask, face shield, soap, water etc. for security at the counting venue in view of corona infection. Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla said that there is a possibility of a trend by noon. Results are expected by late evening. He said that instructions have been given to follow the protocol of Kovid-19 at all places.
