new Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the National Conference on Vigilance and Anti-Corruption on Tuesday during Vigilance Awareness Week. Modi will address the program at 5 pm and it will be live webcast. All organizations have been advised to strictly follow the Kovid-19 prevention guidelines such as wearing masks, keeping ‘two yards’ and washing their hands.
In addition, all organizations have been instructed to strictly follow the economic measures issued by the Ministry of Finance. The event is being hosted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from Tuesday to Thursday.
The Central Vigilance Commission celebrates Vigilance Awareness Week from 27 October to 2 November. It is celebrated every year during the week in which the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (31 October) falls. This awareness week campaign reaffirms the government’s commitment to promoting honesty in public life through citizen participation.
In 2020, Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from October 27 to November 2, 2020 with the theme ‘Vigilant India, Prosperity India’.
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said, “The Commission believes that corruption is a major impediment to the progress of the nation. All sections of society need to be vigilant to maintain integrity in all aspects of our national life.”
The Commission wants all organizations to focus on internal (housekeeping) activities, which have been added to the Vigilance Awareness Week campaign this year. This includes improving internal processes, timely disposal of work and taking advantage of systemic improvements.
It emphasizes on making all processes transparent, including payment to outsourced employees, allocation of houses, digitization of assets including land records and ejecting old records by following prescribed procedures and existing regulations.
