Montevideo | Spanish club FC Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has been included in Uruguay’s 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Ecuador next month. Apart from Suarez, Real Madrid midfielder Federico Velverde, Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentencur and Inter Milan defender Diego Godin have also been included in the squad, reports Xinhua.
However, striker Edinson Kavani has not been included in the team. The 33-year-old poet has not yet found a new club for himself after splitting from Paris Saint-Germain in June. He has not played a single match since March.
Uruguay coach Oscar Tabrez has also included six non-experienced players in his team. They include Ronald Araujo, Mauro Erambari, Nicolas de la Cruz, Diego Rosi, Damien Suarez and Rodrigo Munoz.
The South American zone matches of the World Cup qualifiers were to be played in March, but were suspended due to the Corona virus.
In the World Cup qualifiers, Uruguay now face Chile on October 8 and then Ecuador five days later.
