Sonbhadra. Police have arrested Rajan Gehlot, a resident of Sahijan Kala in Sonbhadra, on charges of marrying working women by deceiving them and then extorting money from them. Robertsganj Kotwali in-charge Inspector Satyendra Kumar Rai said that the accused is being interrogated. During interrogation, Rajan has admitted to marrying nine women by deceiving them and extorting money from them. This is the whole matter Three women working in the education department in Sonbhadra had given a complaint against Rajan Gehlot in Robertsganj Kotwali on Friday. Among them, a woman named Kiran told the police that she is an assistant teacher. She was married, but started having disputes with her husband over the job. She got divorced in 2022 and started living with her parents in her maternal home. Meanwhile, one day Rajan Gehlot contacted her through an acquaintance of his father. Describing himself as a widower, Rajan said that he is a section reviewer in the Excise Department in Lucknow. They got married in Annapurna temple situated in Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Banaras.
A few months later, Rajan took a loan of Rs 41 lakh in the name of the woman to buy land in Lucknow. After a few days, he left saying that he was transferred to Lalitpur and then did not contact.
Kiran told that when she enquired, she came to know that there is no person named Rajan Gehlot in the Excise Department of Lalitpur. After this, she decided to complain to the police.
The body of a pregnant woman was found hanging from a noose in her maternal home.
On Saturday afternoon, in Chhikrad village of Chopan police station area, pregnant Sarita committed suicide by hanging herself in her maternal home. Sarita was married to Ramesh, a resident of Badauli of Robertsganj Kotwali. She had come to her maternal home a day before Holi.
On Saturday at around 2.30 pm, she committed suicide by hanging herself with the help of a saree in the verandah of the house. The deceased’s father Rampreet told that everything was fine in the morning and we were working in the field. In the afternoon, her younger daughter told that Sarita had hanged herself. By the time they reached home, she had died. On getting the information, the police reached the spot, took the body in their custody and started further action.
