The body of a female hockey player was found hanging from a noose in a hotel room in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. On Sunday, she had rented room number-204 on her own ID. According to the hotel staff, a friend of the girl had come to meet her on Sunday night. At present, the police have taken the girl’s friend into custody. At the same time, the post-mortem of the girl’s body has been done and handed over to the family. The matter is being investigated.
The incident is of Hotel Star of Taj behind TDI Mall. The deceased was 22 years old and was a hockey player. The name of her friend who has been taken into custody by the police is Gagan. According to the information, the family of the deceased had registered a case against Gagan in 2020 for molestation and this year for misbehavior. Due to which he has also gone to jail. The family of the deceased is accusing Gagan of murder. They say that Gagan either killed her himself or forced her to commit suicide.
ACP Syed Areeb Ahmed said- We received information from Hotel Star of Taj on Monday afternoon that a girl has committed suicide in room number-204 here. Police and forensic team reached the spot. The body was taken down from the noose and sent for post-mortem. The body was identified as a girl resident of Bundukatra (Agra). Hotel staff was questioned. All CCTV cameras installed in the hotel were scanned. The hotel staff told that the girl came to the hotel on Sunday at around 4:45 pm. She was staying in room number 204. That night at around 8:30 pm a young man came to meet her. He left after staying for an hour.
The door was opened with the master key
If the hotel staff is to be believed, they had asked the girl for dinner at 11:30 pm. But she refused. Then the next day on Monday, till 11:30 am the room door did not open, so the hotel staff knocked on the door. No sound came from inside. On suspicion, the door was opened with the master key. Everyone was shocked to see the scene inside. The body of the girl was hanging from the fan there. The police was immediately informed about this.
The family members of the deceased said- A young man named Gagan lives near our house. He has been after our daughter for the last four years. Both of them belong to different religions. In the year 2020, we had first registered a case of molestation in Sadar police station. He still did not improve. Then this year a case of misconduct was registered against him. After which the police sent Gagan to jail. But he came out on bail after some time. He was harassing our daughter since then.
Last chat was done from a number named Kavita
The police said- When the girl’s mobile was searched, a lot of information was found. She had saved a number named Kavita in her mobile. Audio and video calls were made to her number late at night but were not received. In the morning, she received calls from the same number. By then the girl had died. In the chat, before committing suicide, the girl had written that she was feeling lonely. She was not feeling like doing anything. Police suspected that she had saved Gagan’s number under the name Kavita.
She had talked about going to Aligarh
According to the information, the girl used to play hockey when she was in college. After MA, she also worked in a private bank. Her father is an employee in a hospital. The family told the police that the daughter had left home on Saturday afternoon. She had told that there was a match in Aligarh. On Sunday evening, she had talked to home. She had told that the match was over and she would return by morning. The family was waiting for the daughter. But then they got the news of the daughter’s death directly. The question in the mind of the police now is that the girl had come to this hotel in Agra on Sunday evening. Then where was she on Saturday and with whom? This is also being investigated.
Gagan gave his explanation to the police
On the other hand, Gagan told the police – I was friends with that girl. But the wall of religion was coming in between. The girl’s family filed false cases against me so that we both get separated. The girl had also arranged for my bail. If I had done something wrong with her in the hotel, she would have definitely raised an alarm. I had just met her and left. At present, the police is questioning Gagan further. This case is being investigated from every angle.
