New Delhi. The spread of Corona has not been limited only to the players of the England team. Now two players of the Indian cricket team have also been found infected with the corona virus. Two members of the Indian team that visited England have been found positive in the Kovid 19 test, but the good thing is that both the players are feeling well at the moment, with one player not having any symptoms. However, one player’s test has come negative, while the other player’s test will be done on 18 July, as he completes his 10th day in isolation on Sunday.
Speaking to ANI, sources privy to the developments said that both the players were asymptomatic and had mild symptoms of cough and cold when they were tested for COVID-19. The source says, “Luckily, there is nothing to worry as one of the players has already turned negative since the positive test came, the other player will be tested on Sunday and is currently in isolation. He is also asymptomatic and we are confident that he can join the camp soon after the negative report comes.”
Asked if there was any other cause for concern as the players were on a break after the World Test Championship final, the source said all other players are fine and routine testing is on. “As of now, they are all fine, but we will test them regularly and follow strict protocols. Players’ safety is always a priority,” the source said.
Following the request of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Indian team will play a warm-up match against the County Championship XI team, organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), from July 20 to 22. The BCCI requested the ECB for the practice match and it will be played from July 20 to 22. The five-match Test series between India and England is to start from August 4.
