New Delhi. The Board of Control for Cricket in India decided to postpone the 14th season of the Indian Premier League indefinitely on Tuesday 4 May. This decision was taken due to the increase in the number of corona-infected players in the bio bubble created for the team. Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakraborty was found to be Corona positive. After this, Sandeep Warrier was also found positive.
The New Zealand cricketer, who plays in the IPL going to Britain, including Kane Williamson, will remain in India until 10 May. The rest of New Zealand’s players and support staff members can fly home by chartered planes arranged by the teams. Heath Mills, head of the New Zealand Players Association, gave this information.
Mills told ESPN Cricinfo, “Cricketers cannot leave until May 11 due to travel restrictions in the UK. It is challenging for them to wait a few more days in India.
Apart from Williamson, Trent Boult, Kyle Jameson, Mitchell Sentner, Chris Donaldson (Trainer), Tommy Simsek (Physio), Lockie Ferguson, James Neesham and Finn Allen are also here. The New Zealand team will play a two-match Test series in England from June 2. After this, the World Test Championship final will be played against India from June 18 in Southampton.
Among the players found to be Corona infected, Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals’ Amit Mishra were also found positive. Along with this, Chennai Super Kings bowling coach L Balaji and batting coach Mike Hussey were also found infected.
