new Delhi. Rajaram of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) raised the issue of reservation for Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes in Jammu region in the Upper House on Saturday. He claimed that despite the OBC population being around 35 and the SC population around 17 percent, both groups get 2 and 8 percent quota respectively.
He said that Bahujan Samaj Party, like the rest of the country, supported the abolition of Article 370 on the condition of increasing reservation in this area, but it has not happened even after one year.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G.D. Kishan Reddy was asked to look into the matter.
Congress leader Ahmed Patel raised the issue of ‘digital divide’ (division) between classes running online during the epidemic. He also demanded financial assistance for poor families for this purpose.
Sajmit Patra of the BJD urged the government to involve the international media to present its views as far as international terrorists are concerned. He claimed that while the outlook of Pakistan is covered by the international media, it is rarely covered by the international media.
