Kolkata Baichung Bhutia, former captain of the Indian football team, believes that East Bengal have enough time to make a team in the Indian Super League (ISL).
Bhutia said, “I am very happy that East Bengal finally got an investor and hopes to play ISL this year. I am really happy for the fans. They are praying to see East Bengal play in the top league.” ”
In July 2018, Bangalore-based company Quess tied up with East Bengal. The company had bought a 70 per cent stake in Tea and the team’s new name was Quess East Bengal.
With this, all sporting rights came to the new company, including participation in the I-League.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced on Wednesday that “all problems have been solved and East Bengal will now play in the ISL soon”.
Bhutia said, “I think they have enough time. Other teams have not really started training and some like Chennaiyin FC and NorthEast United have appointed their coaches. Even Hyderabad FC need to make changes Is lying. ”
“East Bengal has already tied up with a lot of players. So I don’t think there should be any problem,” he said.
Bhutia said that his advice to East Bengal is to forget everything and try to win the ‘trophy’.
The former captain said, “I think he has learned a lot from former investors of his past. I’m sure everyone will be more mature now than I had hoped.”
He said that if East Bengal play ISL this season, he will be eagerly waiting to see him and arch rival ATK-Mohun Bagan.
Bhutia said, “I am very excited to see the derby in the ISL. I can assure you that East Bengal and Mohun Bagan coming to the ISL will bring more attraction.”
