Lucknow. In view of the increasing demand for electricity in Uttar Pradesh, 50 new transmission sub-stations will be started by June next year. This will help in meeting the demand of electricity. Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma said during the review of the Power Transmission Corporation, the highest demand this year has been 23,419 MW. Which we have completed successfully. We are constantly improving our network. According to the energy demand, the work of the sub-stations being built to overcome the problems of transmission capacity, import capacity and low voltage is being completed soon. The work of developing the necessary mechanisms for uninterrupted supply is also being done in the summer of next year. For this, the Corporation is constructing 50 new transmission sub-stations in a phased manner, which will also be commissioned by June 2021.
He said that the maximum energy demand in the summer of 2021 is expected to be 26,500 MW. For this, import capacity and transmission capacity will be increased to 14,000 MW and 28,000 MW respectively. Currently, the import capacity is 12,300 MW, while the transmission capacity of the grid is 24,500 MW. Shrikant said that residents of more than 50 districts of the state will get rid of unnecessary tripping and low voltage problems. Also, necessary transmission network will be created for uninterrupted power supply.
He informed that the corporation is working on an action plan to develop the transmission network according to the required demand by 2025. The total demand is expected to be 31,500 MW by the year 2025. In addition to this, a total of 198 new transmission substations will also be built along with the necessary transmission system. Besides, transmission capacity will also be increased to 34,000 MW and import capacity to 16,000 MW.
