Mumbai. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has started clamping down on narcotics mafias. An official said here on Tuesday that the NCB has raided several places in Mumbai and Delhi. Authorities are investigating a gang of expensive drugs coming from outside countries to places like Mumbai and Goa. The raids came three days after the arrest of two drug peddlers in Mumbai. The NCB, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are striving to uncover the drugs mafia’s connection with Bollywood celebrities.
The two accused arrested include F. Ahmad from Calangut, Goa, who works as a driver at a major resort. At the same time, the second accused is associated with page-three celebrities (celebs) of Bengaluru.
NCB Deputy Director K.P.S. Malhotra said the NCB raids were conducted in Mumbai and Delhi, from where imported smuggled hemp (karat marijuana) was seized from countries such as the US and Canada. This foreign hemp was being sold at a hefty price of Rs 5,000 per one gram.
A consignment was sourced from the US and intended to be shipped to Mumbai, but it was confiscated in Delhi. A consignment from a Canadian has been seized in Mumbai, which was to be transported to Goa.
He said that based on the details of the drug peddlers, the NCB seized a 3.50 kg hemp bud, which is in great demand in Mumbai.
Interestingly, some individuals questioned by the CBI, NCB and ED in the last few days are understood to have traded drugs in private or rave parties with various celebs and politicians.
In this connection, Kishore Tiwari, advisor to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, has called on the Maharashtra Police to take cognizance of sensational claims of actress Kangana Ranaut. Kangana has accused the use of drugs in Bollywood.
