new Delhi. Petrol prices were again increased on Sunday. Petrol price has gone above Rs 82 per liter in Delhi, the capital of the country and in Chennai petrol has started getting Rs 85 per liter. Oil marketing companies have increased the price of petrol by nine paise per liter in Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai on Sunday, while the price of petrol in Mumbai has increased by 10 paise per liter.
According to the website of Indian Oil, the price of petrol in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai has increased to Rs 82.03, Rs 83.52, Rs 88.68 and Rs 85 per liter respectively. In the four metros, the price of diesel remains unchanged at Rs 73.56, Rs 77.06, Rs 80.11 and Rs 78.86 per liter respectively.
On the other hand, crude oil prices in the international market closed up on a weekly basis on Friday, but crude oil traded in a limited range throughout the week.
Brent crude’s November delivery contract on the international futures market, Inter Continental Exchange (ICE), rose 0.59 per cent to close at $ 45.87 a barrel, compared with the previous session, while the Brent price rose to $ 46.10 a barrel during the week. Brent crude had closed at $ 44.35 per barrel in the previous week. At the same time, the October delivery futures contract of American Light Crude West Texas Intermediate ie WTI closed at $ 42.96 a barrel, down 0.19 per cent, while the WTI rose to $ 43.78 a barrel during the week, compared to the WTI of $ 42.34 a week earlier. The barrel was closed.
Explain that the prices of petrol and diesel in the country depend on the price of crude oil in the international market because India imports most of its oil requirement.
