new Delhi. The Center said on Thursday that it has distributed over 3.04 crore N95 masks and more than 1.28 crore PPE kits to the states, union territories and central institutions in the last five months for free. Along with this, more than 22,000 ventilators made under ‘Make in India’ have also been made available. The Center is strengthening the health framework to fight the epidemic and manage it effectively. Apart from spreading facilities for the treatment of Kovid-19, the government has continued to provide medical supplies free of cost to the states and union territories for their efforts.
The government said, “Since March 11, 2020, the central government has provided more than 3.04 crore N95 masks and more than 1.28 crore PPE kits to states, union territories and central institutions for free. Also more than 10.83 crore hydroxychloroquine Pills have also been provided. In addition, ventilators made under ‘Make in India’ have also been provided and installation and commissioning of them has also been ensured. ”
The government continued, “Most of these things being supplied by the Indian government were not manufactured in the country earlier. Due to the increasing global demand due to the epidemic, their availability started getting difficult.”
As a result, the resolutions of ‘Self-reliant India’ and ‘Make in India’ were strengthened and most of these items supplied by the central government were manufactured domestically.
During this period, in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Textiles and Pharmaceuticals, Department of Industry and Internal Trade Promotion, Defense Research and Development Organization and others, the domestic industry is equipped with essential medical equipment such as PPE, N95 masks, ventilators etc. Construction and supply was encouraged.
