new Delhi . Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to take stock of the ground situation immediately after an Air India Express flight crashed from the runway.
The Prime Minister tweeted, “I am saddened by the plane crash in Kozhikode. My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones. Wish the injured well soon.”
Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have reached the spot for relief and rescue operations. Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “I am troubled by the information about the Air India Express plane crash in Kozhikode, Kerala.”
In this accident, 17 people, including the pilot, have been reported dead so far. The accident took place around 8.20 in the night. The aircraft had a total of 190 people, including 10 children, four crew members and two pilots.
Around 40 ambulances have reached the accident site to take the passengers to various hospitals in Kozhikode and Malappuram. The condition of many passengers brought to a private hospital remains critical.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, local self-government minister A.C. Moideen has been instructed to reach the accident site.
