new Delhi. In the status report given by the Ministry of Defense in view of tension on the border with China, it is feared that this dispute may go on for a long time. The Defense Ministry has also released an update on its website regarding Chinese aggression on the Line of Actual Control. This status report states that the situation in East Ladakh remains vulnerable due to unilateral aggression by China. This requires close monitoring and quick action based on China’s position. It also states that since 5 May 2020, China’s aggression on the Line of Actual Control has increased continuously, especially in Galvan Valley.
The Kograng drain on behalf of China, Gogra near Pangang Shaw was violated on 17 and 18 May. This was followed by grassroots negotiations between the armed forces of the two sides to define the situation. On 6 June 2020, there was a Commander level dialogue between the armies of the two countries. After this, on June 15, 2020, there was a fierce clash between the two armies, due to which both the armies lost their soldiers forever. This status report also gives information about the commander level talks between the two armies on 22 June 2020, which was supposed to reduce tensions at the center.
The report said that apart from talks between the military level officials between the two countries to increase mutual cooperation and reduce tensions at the border, diplomatic level talks are also being held. Despite this, this tension is unlikely to end soon. At the end of this report, a quick action has been given keeping in view the situation. The two countries met for the third time on June 30, which lasted for about 12 hours. During this meeting every point of dispute and tension was discussed. During this time, China had agreed to withdraw its army from Penang Shaw, but it did not do so. India claims that India has control of Finger 8 along the Line of Actual Control and that China’s military is present at Finger 4-5.
Apart from this, there is also a dispute between the two countries about Depsang and Demchock. For the fourth time on 14 July, there was a military level dialogue between the two countries. During this long 15-hour meeting, it was said that the armies should avoid violent action. In this, the soldiers of the People’s Liberation Army of China were asked to completely withdraw from Pangang Lake and Depsang on behalf of India. After the fifth meeting on August 2, it has been said that China’s intention to return from the border is rarely seen. Therefore, in this report, the army has been told to be fully alert and ready.
