Thiruvananthapuram. The CBI has started an investigation almost 22 months after the death of the hugely popular young musician Balabhaskar in a road accident. For this, the CBI has now filed an FIR. The Kerala government had demanded a CBI inquiry in December last year after her father requested her.
Balabhaskar, 40, was traveling from Thrissur to the state capital with his wife and two-year-old daughter on 25 September 2018. Then his car accident happened on the outskirts of the capital city.
The daughter died on the spot in the accident, while Balabhaskar died on 2 October. His wife and driver were injured in the accident.
Immediately after the incident, doubts were expressed as to who was driving the car until the accident occurred. Some reports stated that the driver was driving the car, while some other reports noted that the car was driven by the musicians themselves.
Incidentally, the first revelation in the case occurred a few days later when popular stage artist Kalabhavan Soby said that it was not an accident, as he had noticed ‘some things’ at the accident site. In fact, soon after the incident, they reached the spot.
One reason for this new CBI investigation would be to draw more attention to this. Including the alleged presence of a person who has now been arrested in a gold smuggling case immediately after the accident.
The musician’s father C.K. Unni had already expressed apprehensions about the investigation by the Kerala Crime Branch Police. He felt that despite his requests, some things were being ignored.
