Assembly Speaker asked for information about MLAs who are not present in the meetings

Chandigarh Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta has decided to ask the officials concerned for a record of the last five years to review the progress of the action taken on the recommendations and assurances given by the assembly committees.
The Speaker took this decision in a meeting held here with the chairmen of the Legislative Assembly Committees. He also sought information about the MLAs who were not present in the committee meetings.
Gupta said that the committee officials will soon prepare the complete details according to paragraph and send it to the state government and within 30 days, the officers of the concerned departments will have to appear in the assembly with the details.
He instructed the committee chairpersons that if a legislator is absent from three consecutive meetings, the matter should be brought to their notice. He said that committee presidents should contact such MLAs at their level as well. When asked about the presence of officials of government departments in the committee meetings, the committee presidents said that the situation has improved a lot already and that the officers are coming fully prepared in the meetings.
The Speaker said that committees are an essential part of the House. Progress report of assurances given in these should be taken seriously. It is also the responsibility of the Assembly to ensure compliance of the recommendations and instructions issued by the committees. He said that detailed details of assurances, recommendations and instructions given in the last 5 years should be collected and progress report should be called on it. He instructed the committee officers present in the meeting to start working with immediate effect.
At the meeting, Chairman of Public Accounts Committee Harvinder Kalyan, Chairman of Forecasting Committee, Subhash Sudha, Chairman of Petition Committee Ghanshyam Das Arora, Education, Technical Education, Vocational Education, Medical Education and Health Services Subject Committee Chairman Seema Trikha, Subordinate Law Committee Chairman Officers of Ram Niwas and all committees were present.
