New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday has asked Delhi University to take immediate steps in connection with issuing online degree certificates, mark sheets and transcripts with digital signature and security specifications. The High Court said that due to delay in convocation, delay in sending data, it takes time to send degree certificate and students of Delhi University (DU) do not get degree certificate for many years.
Justice Pratibha M. Singh, who was hearing the video conference, issued notice to the National Academic Depository (NAD) and asked a senior officer to come to the next hearing to apprise him of the agreement between NAD and DU. Online academic certificate is provided through NAD. The High Court also asked the NAD to make them aware of the status of the data received from DU.
The judge said, “Since NAD is a unique feature and acts as a National Depository for providing academic records to students, DU should also use it.” Steps should be taken to transfer all the existing data related to the students to NAD. “The judge directed the university to immediately prepare protocols regarding issuing degree certificates and other papers including marksheet, copy with digital signature and security specification.” gave.
The High Court gave this order on a petition of five doctors who have studied MBBS from Lady Hardinge Medical College. This college is part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of DU. Despite completing the course in the year 2018, he turned to the High Court for not getting the degree certificate.
