Thiruvananthapuram. The case of gold smuggling has been overshadowed in Kerala these days. The opposition has been continuously pressurizing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to resign. Now Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala has written a letter to CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Monday. In the letter, he has conveyed the deteriorating situation in the state under CM Vijayan and demanded his intervention in the matter.
In his letter, he wrote that one of your party claims to have a high political moral base in the state and you should explain the situation happening in this state under your leadership and take action against the Chief Minister. He further wrote that it would be meaningless to state that the Chief Minister is unaware of the work being done in his office. Further he wrote that he has been inspired to write in the context of the functioning of the Left Democratic Front Ministry headed by Chief Minister Vijayan, which He is also a Bureau member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala has sought to bring the role of Chief Minister Vijayan in the matter under scrutiny. Apart from this, he also insisted on checking the Chief Minister’s office on Sunday. Apart from this, he said that along with the main accused in the smuggling of gold, there were reports of high officials of the Chief Minister’s office being involved. In this case, it should be investigated. Media reports claimed that now an audio call has come out of the main accused in the case, Swapra Suresh, in which he described himself as innocent and dragged the names of several ruling leaders.
What is the matter
It is known that more than 30 kilograms of gold was seized in Kerala, which is said to be worth about Rs 15 crore. The Central Government has handed over the investigation to the case to the National Investigation Agency. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) says that gold was being smuggled to carry out terrorist activities in the country.
