new Delhi. Military representatives from India and China held talks on Tuesday to withdraw troops and withdraw material from the borders in eastern Ladakh. The main agenda of the Indian delegates at the meeting is about the removal of tanks, artillery and additional forces of the People’s Liberation Army of China from the Pangong Lake and Depsang areas in eastern Ladakh. The meeting is on the lines of a meeting between 14 Corps Commander Lt Gen Harinder Singh and the Chief of South Xinjiang Military District Major General Liu Lin held at the Armymen’s Meeting (BPM) point on the Chushul-Moldo border in eastern Ladakh on 6 June.
This is the fourth meeting between the delegates. The third such meeting lasted for about 12 hours. The two countries are engaged in military and diplomatic consultations to ease the tense situation in the border areas. A diplomatic meeting was held between the representatives of the two countries on Friday. The mechanism mechanism for consultation and coordination on the India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) met on 10 July. The Indian delegation was led by the Joint Secretary (East Asia) of the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Chinese delegation was led by the Director General of the Border and Oceanographic Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Significantly, on June 15, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galvan Valley. An unknown number of Chinese soldiers were also killed.
