Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Thursday that all the states of the country will be connected by One Nation One Ration Card Scheme by January. The scheduled deadline for One Nation One Ration Card to be implemented across the country is 31 March. Paswan said during a conversation with reporters through video conferencing that the beneficiaries of the public distribution system in 20 states are beginning to get the price of the scheme and efforts are on to include the remaining states soon.
He said that there is a connectivity problem in some states, which has been written to the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications to overcome it, and after the problem is resolved, the rest of the states and Union Territories will also join the scheme by January.
He said that the implementation of this scheme in the entire country will especially benefit the migrant laborers as they will be able to get their share of ration anywhere in the country on their ration card. He informed that work is in progress in the states which have not yet been able to join the scheme, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi.
